Peter Sauber has refused to rule out talk that he could take up the role of team boss of the BMW Sauber team following its takeover by the Oadbak group.
The consortium will take control of the team from BMW at the end of the season after the German car giant announced it was to quit the sport, and will hope to line up on the grid despite missing out on the 13th slot in the field to Lotus.
The FIA has already announced that it is looking to expand the field to 14 teams in order to allow the team to remain on the grid, with BMW Sauber having been awarded the '14th place' on the grid which will allow it to fill any vacancy on the grid.
Sauber, who was team principal for the Hinwil-based outfit prior to selling up to BMW, revealed to the Swiss newspaper Blick that he has been heavily involved in the talks that have seen Oadbak take control and could even return as principal if it was what the new investors wanted to see.
"We are probably going to meet again next week and then I will be able to better answer this question,” he told the 'paper. "If the investors want me as the team head then I will do that.
"That doesn't mean I want to do it, but the fact is I assured these people before the sale that I am at their disposal if they need me, no matter for what role."
Sauber also revealed that the team could enter the 2010 season as Sauber-Ferrari – although no decision has yet been taken – and that talks over potential drivers would begin 'shortly'.
