Israel continues settlement expansion

Israeli authorities have bulldozed a Palestinian-owned building in occupied East Jerusalem, a day after President Obama objected to it demolishing Palestinian homes in that area.

The US has also sharply rebuked Israel for approving plans to build nine-hundred new houses for Jewish settlers in the Gilo neighbourhood, an Arab area of East Jerusalem.

It is a snub to President Obama's peace efforts and he has described the move as "dangerous".
